has finally launched, and after a long wait there were some seriously big boots to fill. Ahead of its launch, we compiled everything we knew about the game so you could access all the information in one place.

For example, some enemies are so heavily shielded they can only be put down by explosive weapons capable of tearing through the steel, so you’ll want to have at least one player who can call down the Recoilless Rifle, a rocket launcher that’ll make short work of anything that stands in its way. It’s especially cool that any equipment summoned can be shared with anyone on the team, encouraging teamwork and allowing your friends to benefit from your untimely demise by looting your corpse.

The good news, though, is that it's also on Windows PC via Steam, so you can enjoy the shooter that way if you've got a capable gaming rig.

Can the Helldivers pull together to defend vital strategic outposts against overwhelming numbers, or complete grand story missions before another faction makes their move? Not only time, but the blood, sweat and mangled bodies of Helldivers will tell.

There are some genuine frame-rate drops in the mix, with the game dropping to the high 20s, although these aren't very common. The PC version has a serviceable options menu with a typical range of selectables, including texture quality, shadow quality, volumetrics quality, and options for screen-space reflections and screen-space global illuminations. Sticking to the standard quality presets, low settings dramatically alters the terrain and decimates shadows and should really be avoided if at all possible. Medium makes the terrain match the collison, greatly improves shadow res, and adds TAA, ambient occlusion, and additional foliage. The high preset adds in more foliage and improves shadows, and the ultra preset looks very similar to high but with extra shadow detail. Performance-wise, there's a huge FPS boost by sliding down to the low preset, though the other presets are pretty similar in performance based on testing using an RTX 4090.

Loot fallen teammates. When you die, you'll drop certain things like Weapons and samples. As soon as someone dies, pick up any samples they drop, so they don't go missing.
